Should I get a Surge or Non-Surge Generlink
Surge protection is always recommended but we suggest putting a whole home surge protector directly on your panel. This will protect your home with or without the Generlink. Also Hydro One only allows for one free Disconnect/Reconnect a year so if your generlink
Which Plug Style Do I Need?
Double check your generator's output connections to confirm you are choosing the proper unit. If you are still unsure, reference your generators owners manual or our generator compatibility guide.
How Will I Know When The Power Is Back On?
The GenerLink comes equipped with 4 indicator lights, when the UTILITY light is green it means your power has been restored.
Can A GenerLink Damage my Appliances?
GenerLink is designed to function as an interconnection device and serves to connect your generator to your home. There is no risk of damage to your appliances created by the GenerLink device. You should exercise care when selecting your generator to ensure you are buying a high quality generator.
What Cord Lengths Can I Get?
We offer a 20, 40, and 60 foot option, 80 and 100 foot are available by special order. (40A GenerLinks are only recommended for cord lengths up to 60 feet.)
What Generator Will Work?
Most portable generators will work with a GenerLink, refer to your generators owner manual to confirm it has the proper outlet compatibility. (See GenerLink Canada Guide)
How Does The GenerLink Work?
The GenerLink Transfer Switch is mounted behind your home meter. During an outage you would connect your portable generator with the GenerLink cord to the GenerLink Transfer Switch to restore power to your home or cottage.
Will The GenerLink Turn Off When The Power Is On?
No, as long as generator power is present the GenerLink will prioritize generator power.
Is The GenerLink Certified For Canada?
Yes, the GenerLink is CUL certified for use in Canada and approved by many utility authorities. The following provinces do not approve of the GenerLink at this time: BC, QC, NT, NU.
Please check with your local power company as some utilities in Ontario do not allow portable units.
