The GenerLink Transfer Switch is mounted directly behind your home meter. During an outage you connect your portable generator with the GenerLink cord to the GenerLink Transfer Switch to restore power to your home or cottage.
Yes, the GenerLink is CUL certified for use in Canada and approved by many utility authorities in Ontario. Please check with your local power company as some utilities in Ontario do not allow portable generators to connect to their meters.
The following provinces do not approve of the GenerLink at this time: BC, QC, NT, NU.
Most portable generators will work with a GenerLink, refer to your generators owner manual to confirm it has the proper outlet compatibility. See GenerLink Canada Guide or email us for further confirmation.
The GenerLink comes equipped with 4 indicator lights, when the UTILITY light is green it means your power has been restored.
While surge protection is always recommended, we suggest installing a whole home surge protector directly on your panel. This will protect your home with or without the Generlink running. Also Hydro One only allows for one free Disconnect/Reconnect a year so if your Generlink receives a surge you may be required to pay a fee to Hydro One to repair the surge.
No, as long as generator power is present the GenerLink will prioritize generator power. Once the generator is powered off the GenerLink will return to Utility Power.
We offer a 20, 40, and 60 foot option, 80 and 100 foot are available by special order. (40A GenerLinks are only recommended for cord lengths up to 60 feet.)
GenerLink is designed to function as an interconnection device and serves to connect your generator to your home. There is no risk of damage to your appliances created by the GenerLink device. You should exercise care when selecting your generator to ensure you are buying a high quality generator.
